Sangean PR-D18 portable AM/FM radio
Our verdict: A straightforward portable-radio choice for AM and FM listening when physical controls and replaceable AA batteries suit the routine.
Trade-off: The PR-D18 is an AM/FM radio; it is not a direct feature replacement for a shortwave or SSB receiver.

Pros and cons
Reasons to consider it
- Replaceable AA cells can be convenient when away from a charger.
- The headphone socket supports listening without using the speaker.
Reasons to pause
- Shortwave and SSB listeners need a different type of receiver.
- Battery costs and spare cells become part of regular use.
Before choosing a listing
Check the radio's condition, battery compartment and any included power adapter before buying used stock. Verify the exact PR-D18 model rather than assuming every Sangean portable has the same bands or power requirements.
